# Your handle

A **handle** is the short name you, or a workspace, are known by — like a username elsewhere: it is how work is credited and how people mention and find you. Everyone has one from the start, suggested from the name you sign up with (or a new workspace’s name); you can change it at once in the workspace’s settings, and after that once a day. It is in no address, so changing it breaks no link. A handle is 3–30 lowercase letters, digits and inner hyphens. Some names are **reserved**: the platform’s own (`23artifacts`, `23made`…), words that would sound like it speaking (`support`, `billing`, `security`, and anything built on them), and names the web itself uses (`www`, `api`). A name someone else holds is **taken**. A workspace’s handle is set by its owners and admins.
